Karna in the Amar Chitra Katha. Source: Amazon India.
This version of Karna's story matched up more of what I have heard. In Narayan's book, he says that Kunti was already married and was attempting to hide this birth. In addition, Pandava also told her to save her mantra for another time, which is why she tried to see if it worked. This was a much different variation than what I have heard in the past, which is what the Amar Chitra Katha demonstrates. Karna was born to an unmarried and young Kunti who would be shamed for having a child without marriage. It was not to hide the birth. It is interesting to see how the story varies, but this comic book version of Karna left out many details unlike Narayan's rendition. It was still useful in giving information about Karna and some basic facts. The Amar Chitra Katha is meant for children, so it does not provide many details as one would expect. However, it does provide information on some words that need to be explained, which was nice. Bibliography
