Week 13 Reading Notes: Shiva & Parvati Amar Chitra Katha

Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesh. Source: Dolls of India.
The story of Parvati winning Shiva after her rebirth is one of true devotion and destiny. Parvati had no intention of loving Shiva initially but once she laid eyes on him, she knew it was her destiny. She had heard of Sati, but was brave enough to attempt to win him anyways. She fulfilled her destiny and the story of their marriage and the birth of Kartikeya was both told in this comic. This was a wonderful story of devotion to Shiva and how endless love for the Gods can result in only goodness in the heart. I loved this story because it emphasizes devotion and love in a way that is pure and innocent. The love of Parvati and Shiva is ideal and exemplary in terms of how we should devote ourselves to Shiva.
