Week 11 Reading Notes: Krishna and Rukmini Amar Chitra Katha

Krishna and Rukmini. Source: PicturesBoss.
The story of Rukmini and Krishna is one of destined love. I wrote about this story last week, but the cartoon provided it in a storybook manner. The story of Krishna, however, really confuses me at times. He was a godly figure, but had many many consorts. He saved so many women by saving them, which was noble, but he also had several wives. The main wives were clearly joined with Krishna. It is simply interesting how he had these human qualities with his godly knowledge. Krishna is an interesting character throughout these stories. He begins as naughty and innocent, moves to noble and honorable, and ends as incredibly wise. The story of the love between Rukmini and Krishna is one that is unique. Just like Radha and Krishna, Rukmini and Krishna had a bond that was unique. Her love for him was endless, but as it was for any other devotee. So why is this different? This story itself has conflicts in that Radha is no longer present. There are theories that exist as well, bit there is no telling what is truly correct. Their story and Radha's is one that can be written about this week and join the theories.
