The story of Bhanumati is one that was quite interesting. Bhanumati appeared as a helpless soul in this whole case, however. Each story presents the woman as a helpless soul who needs to be saved. There are really no powerful women in these stories. Bhanumati got captured, she got saved, then got married. The same scenario each time while the men go to fight, and the women happily oblige in their arranged marriage with some hero. It is quite unfortunate and difficult to see over the semester. Although these are retellings of stories, I do wish that there was more woman power, as each woman has the capability to do wonders. Just look around!
